El profesor es miembro de varias asociaciones internacionales para el estudio del hígado y es autor de numerosos artículos en su campo. El profesor Safadi forma parte del consejo editorial de la revista médica científica Clinical Science.

Rifaat Safadi es laureado de muchos premios científicos. En particular, recibió repetidamente el Premio Hadassah por estudiar el proceso de modulación inmune de la fibrosis hepática utilizando ARNm. Por logros en el mismo campo, el profesor recibió el Premio Sharon Donsky y la Asociación Israelí de Gastroenterología y Hepatología.
