Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort is an adults-only boutique wellness center in Phuket, Thailand. It sits on a tropical hillside and opened in 2003. This family-run resort offers structured programs in traditional Ayurveda. The grounds cover 25,000 square meters, away from the crowds.
The resort is a member of Healing Hotels of the World, a global community focused on genuine well-being and healing. It has also received the HolidayCheck Award. During the monsoon season, from April to October, the resort takes fewer guests. This makes the setting calmer and allows more in-depth consultations.
Two resident BAMS-certified Ayurvedic doctors design and oversee the programs. Each plan is personalized after an initial consultation. Doctors use pulse diagnosis, known as Nadi Pareeksha, to spot early imbalances. One key program is the Ayuryoga Panchakarma retreat. Panchakarma is a five-fold therapy designed to cleanse the body of accumulated toxins.
The team performs these traditional treatments:
The resort recommends at least 7 nights for meaningful results. For deeper detox and rejuvenation, 14 to 21 nights are ideal.
Yoga is a core part of every Ayurveda program. It balances the bodywork and keeps guests grounded. Instructors lead two 60-minute sessions daily in the open-air Prana Yoga Sala or the Ananda Yoga Room. Styles include Hatha Stretch, Vinyasa Flow, and Yin, taught to mixed-level groups.
The Ananda Healing retreat takes a different approach. It combines Ayurvedic treatments with Reiki energy healing sessions. The aim is to help stabilize physical and emotional disorders. Sound healing and pranayama breathwork classes run every week.
Guests can use a Himalayan rock salt infrared sauna. The salt holds 84 or more trace minerals, which the resort says support easier breathing and clearer skin. A 680-square-meter saltwater pool is open 24 hours a day.
Other facilities include:
There is a fitness room with island views. The outdoor Wild Wood Gym hosts outdoor training and group activities.
The resort treats food as medicine. During Panchakarma, chefs prepare Sattvic, plant-based meals. Each dish is matched to the guest's dosha. Produce comes from the resort's own organic farm and from trusted hydroponic farms. Guests get copper water bottles for drinking Tamra Jal. This is water stored in copper, which Ayurveda holds can balance the body's energies.
Guests stay in 47 private villas built from natural materials. Each has high ceilings and a private terrace or balcony. Depending on the villa, extras include open-air rain showers or sea and garden views.
Retreats of 5 nights or more include a free one-way airport pickup. The front desk is open 24 hours a day and can arrange airport or local transfers.
Before guests leave, doctors give lifestyle and dietary guidance to continue at home. For advanced Panchakarma programs, the resort recommends a free online consultation before arrival. It helps set the right length and depth of treatment.
