Professor Cheng Biao – Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, Shanghai Tongji Hospital
Professor Cheng Biao is a Chief Physician, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Orthopedics at Shanghai Tongji Hospital. With decades of clinical and academic experience, he has established himself as a leading expert in complex joint diseases and sports trauma, particularly in the fields of arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery.
His clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of orthopedic conditions, including total and partial knee/hip replacement, arthroscopic meniscectomy, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, Bankart repair, and the management of congenital bone and joint deformities such as developmental dysplasia of the hip and patellar/displaced shoulder instability. He is also experienced in treating axial spondyloarthritis, Kashin-Beck disease, and osteoarthritis of major joints. As Deputy Head of the Arthroscopy Group under the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association and a founding member of the Chinese Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Collaborative Group, he has been instrumental in advancing minimally invasive and joint-preserving techniques in China.
Professor Cheng serves on multiple national committees, including the Upper Limb Group of the Sports Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Shanghai Hand Surgery Committee, and the Shanghai Medical Malpractice Expert Appraisal Committee. He is also an editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Surgeryand the Chinese edition of Arthroscopy. His contributions have been recognized with the Third Prize of the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award and the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, he acts as an international medical expert at Shanghai World International Medical Center, providing care to domestic and overseas patients seeking high-level orthopedic treatment.
