Tratar el cáncer gastrointestinal y de pulmón sin quimioterapia. Los especialistas de la Clínica Tel Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) utilizan una técnica innovadora ultramoderna para combatir los tumores neuroendocrinos. Se basa en la terapia con radionúclidos con el radioisótopo Lutetium 177 (Lutetium-177). Esta innovación es un verdadero avance en oncoterapia, ya que en las últimas décadas el número de casos de este tipo de cáncer ha ido creciendo rápidamente.

Esta técnica es completamente nueva en el mundo. Hoy existe solo en Israel, Alemania y Suecia.

Su esencia radica en el uso de un nuevo radiofármaco: Lutetium 177 PRRT. El medicamento se administra por vía intravenosa a intervalos de 7-8 semanas. Con la ayuda de Lutetium, las células cancerosas se destruyen selectivamente, sin afectar los tejidos sanos del cuerpo. Es decir, este método de tratamiento puede llamarse literalmente "terapia de radiación local". Además, el medicamento no tiene un efecto tóxico en la médula ósea y los riñones, destruyendo el tumor desde el interior.

Además, el uso de este método permite a los pacientes evitar los efectos secundarios graves de la quimioterapia, como vómitos, náuseas, dolor, alopecia y debilidad. También es importante que el tratamiento sea realizado por un equipo especial de médicos especialistas. Entre ellos: ¡médicos, enfermeras y físicos médicos destacados!

Professor Santoro is heavily involved in research, with interest in many topics, such as the development of new cancer drugs and new biological therapies, interests for solid and haematological tumours, and not only he treats cancer survivors but also patients with comorbidities.

He has worked in Humanitas Research Hospital for 22 years. Professor Santoro’s post-graduate research was carried out at the Unité de Development Therapeutique (Institut de Cancerologie et d’Immunogenetique, Villejuif of Paris) from 1974 to 1975, and in the Division of Medical Oncology of the National Cancer Institute of Milan from 1976 to 1977. 

In 1977, he specialized in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology at University of Rome. In 1979, he completed his fellowship post-graduate work in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York and later, at Stanford University. In 1980, he specialized in oncology at the University of Genoa. 

Current Teaching Activity: Professor Santoro worked as Contract Professor at the Specialization School in Clinical Pathology ad Pavia University from 1992 to 1997. Also, from 1993 to 2002 he has been President of the Rare Tumour Group. Now he is full professor at Humanitas University. 

Current Positions: 

• .Since 1997, he is the Director of the Department of Medical Oncology and Haematology, at Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Milan. Also, he is Member of the Ethics Committee of Istituto Clinico Humanitas and Director of Clinical Research in the same Institute since 2007.
• - Since 2008, he is Member of the Planning Committee, Ministry of Work and of Health and Social Politics, Rome, Italy.
• - Since October 2008, Professor Santoro is Counsellor of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Humanitas for Research of Rozzano, Italy.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÖZATEŞ

Dr Ozates was born in 1966 in Birecik district of Sanliurfa in Turkey. He completed his primary and secondary education in my hometown, Birecik. He got into Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1983. After 6 years of successful education, he started Radiology education at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine by passing the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) in the same year I graduated in 1989.

Between 1993 and 1995, he worked as a Radiology Specialist in various hospitals in Gaziantep. He passed the Assistant Professorship exam and started to work as a faculty member at Dicle University in 1995.

In 2003, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor with the examination held at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. In 2005-2013, Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital Radiology Clinic Chief, Training and Administrative Officer.

In 2013, he started to work as a professor at Nişantaşı University. On March 15, 2013, he was appointed as the Inter-University Board Representative for 1 year. He is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Ayvansaray University. He is a sub – specialist in “Pediatric Radiology”

His articles have been published in many magazines in Turkey and abroad. He presented written and oral presentations and gave conferences at congresses in various cities and countries.

As the Radiology Clinic Chief of Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital, he is the first professor who performed Coronary CT Angiography in a state hospital in Istanbul.

He is one of Turkey’s first Children’s Radiology Specialist Minor. He did his military service between March and April 2000 at the 200-bed Malatya Military Hospital.

El Dr. Prat es un científico clínico con experiencia en investigación de cáncer de mama, ensayos clínicos y expresión génica. Tiene un título de médico de la Universidad de Barcelona y completó una beca de oncología médica en el Instituto de Oncología Vall d'Hebron. Es Jefe del Grupo de Genómica Traslacional y Terapéutica Dirigida en Tumores Sólidos del Instituto de Investigación Biomédica August Pi i Sunyer, Presidente de la Junta Directiva de SOLTI y miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de The Breast International Group. Ha publicado 160 publicaciones con 13.479 citas y es Catedrático Titular de la Universidad de Barcelona y Director del Máster en Patología Mamaria – Senología.
